JAMMU,Apr 20: Different farmers bodies which met here, today under the chairmanship of Tajinder Singh Wazir, president JK Kissan Council and member JK Kissan Advisory Board demanded the Veterinary University for the UT of J&K to meet out the day today problems of dairy farmers and processing dairy entrepreneurs.
In a statement they said that the J&K has lot of dairy potential and the University will further boost the same through the research programmmes conducted by scientists .
While welcoming the Prime Minister’s visit on Panchayat Diwas to Jammu, Wazir said it is for the first time in history that any PM has come to J&K specially for boosting ruler economy through this mega awareness meet . JK UT has a tremendous potential in agriculture for creating millions of jobs and earn billions of dollars, he expressed the hope that this visit will mitigating the unemployment crisis in the UT.
He said no doubt from last two years under the leadership of Lt Governor , Manoj Sinha and on field initiatives of Principal Secretary Agriculture, Navin Choudhary who tried their best for revival of agriculture and allied sectors various milestones were achieved in agriculture and dairy sector which was also listed in the NITI Aayog survey for making agriculture sustainability.
He said the farmers of Jammu growing Basmati have a recognition worldwide and they demand for starting of Satellite Centre of Basmati Export Development Foundation under Agriculture Processing Export Development Centre on the pattern of Modipuram in UP . The Farmers also welcomed the initiatives of Dr Jitendra Singh for trapping potential of Shahpur Kandi dam to irrigate 1000 hts of barren land but JK needs a special package and incentives under Pradhanmantri Krishi Sanchai Yojna. He said Commercial floriculture needs a focus as farmers lack know how and Satellite Centre of Floriculture be opened at Ramban district to facilitate flower growers of both the provinces.
