Excise sleuths seize 4000 kgs of polythene bags at Lakhanpur

KATHUA, Mar 22:The alert Excise sleuths at Toll Post Lakhanpur today foiled an attempt of smuggling polythene into the State and seized 4000 kgs of banned polythene bags at Toll Post Lakhanpur near here.
According to reports on a tip off the excise sleuths subjected a truck bearing registration number JK05G-1424 consigned through M/S Aman Kashmir Roadlines, H/O Sarai Papal Thalla opposite Shimla Mandi, Azadpur Delhi was subjected to physical check at Toll Post, Lakhanpur.
As per the documents , the vehicle was declared to be carrying Onion vice GR No 1035. However on checking by Inspector Mohammed Arif and Javed Wani assisted by Excise Guards the vehicle was found loaded with polythene concealed beneath the onion. The vehicle along with seized polythene was handed over to concerned agency for further action under rules.
The operation was supervised by Deputy Excise Commissioner, Veshesh Paul Mahajan and carried out by Excise & Taxation officer Varinder Singh Pawar, Varinder Gupta, Sajjad Ahmed Sofi, Inspectors Khalid Javed Manhas, Dheeraj Kumar, Mohamed Arif, Javed Wani and Sub Inspector Surinder Singh Bagal and Excise Guard Mohammed Hafiz under the over all directives of Excise Commissioner, Mohamed Javed Khan.
