Ex-Ministers lose Garages’ cars

Srinagar, Jan 11: As the People’s Democratic Party (PDP)-Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) Government ceases to exist after the demise of former Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, and imposition of Governor’s Rule, the State Motor Garages has recalled the official vehicles from all the former Ministers.
An official of State Motor Garages told Excelsior here today that they recalled all its official vehicles which were allotted to the former Ministers as their protocol ended with the dissolution of the Government and imposition of Governor’s Rule.
The State had 25 Cabinet and Ministers of State and each of them had two cars allotted. There were around 50 cars of State Motor Garages with these Ministers including staff cars.
The official said that one of the Cabinet Minister surrendered his official vehicle at the same time when the Governor’s Rule was imposed in Jammu and Kashmir. He said that some other Ministers also surrendered their cars to State Motor Garages. However, majority were asked to surrender them.
However, the personal staff of the ministers has been retained and so has been their security which is in addition to that provided to the MLAs and MLCs.
