Er Rashid marshaled out from LA, House witnesses noisy scenes

SRINAGAR : Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly (LA) today witnessed noisy scenes after the Independent Member Er Sheikh Abdul Rashid raised the issue of slapping Public Safety Act (PSA) on President Muslim Development Forum (MDF), Jammu Syed Shabir Ahmad Shah.
Er Rashid was later marshaled out from the House after heated exchange of words with Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) members and Rural Development , Panchayati Raj and Law and Justice minister Abdul Haq Khan.
However, the government announced that a statement will be made in the House on the issue after the Question-Hour.The trouble started when Er Rashid wanted to know the reasons why Syed Shah was booked under PSA.
“Why those who killed muslims in Jammu region, including at Samba, have not been booked under PSA”, Er Rashid asked. On this BJP members from Jammu reacted sharply and shouted at Er Rashid but nothing was heard in the din.
When Mr Haq said that government will make a statement in the House later on the issue, Er Rashid said something which was not audible as BJP members were shouting at him (Rashid).
On the directions of the Chair Er Rashid was marshaled out from the House. However, entire opposition including National Conference (NC), Congress and Communist Party of India (M) wanted to know how can a member be thrown out physically from the House when he only wanted answer from the Government.
The opposition members wanted a debate on the issue. The CPI(M) member Mohammad Yousuf Targami appealed members not to divide the House on regional basis. However, he too wanted to know why PSA was slapped on Shah.
Later order restored in the House after government agreed to make a statement on the issue. (agencies)
