JAMMU, Mar 12: Tall claims of BJP-PDP that implementation of the NFSA in J&K will solve all the problems of people covered by the Public Distribution System (PDS) network has infact created food crisis in State.
This was the observation of Awami National Conference (ANC) provincial president, S Gian Singh while reacting to serious ration shortage in State forcing innocent people to hit roads for the proper supply of ration which is otherwise their basic fundamental right.
Singh expressing shock over present food crisis said that the rations meant for rural areas never reach the targeted population because the commodities are sold in the open market for further sale in black market due to shortage of rations in the State.
The people falling in the Below Poverty Line (BPL) category never receive their share of rations because of careless attitude of the concerned authorities, who hesitate in footing the bills for free transportation of the rations.
Singh appealed Governor to undertake a serious analysis of present scenario and develop response strategies and also to review PDS targeting of BPL families, stocking system for essential food items.
