SRINAGAR, Dec 9: All Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Conference (AJKPC) today threatened to celebrate Republic Day as a black day if their demands of empowering Panchyats are not met immediately.
While addressing a press conference here, Ghulam Hassan Panzoo, spokesperson of AJKPC said that the Government has set January 3, 2013 as the deadline to fulfill the promises, and in case it fails to do so, the AJKPC will celebrate January 26 as black day instead of Republic Day.
Panzoo  said that they want empowerment of Panchayats by implementation of 73rd Amendment, release of honorarium, insurance cover, security cover, sanction of SRO 143 against any untoward with any Panchayat member and early completion of all the three tiers of Panchayat Raj in the State.
Panzoo said that the Coalition Government is beating the drum after its victory in the recently Legislative Council elections in State and is projecting it as an achievement for the ruling parties, which was never true.
Panzoo said, “The Panchs and Sarpanchs vote was not ideological vote but vote for ruling Government, whosoever was sitting on the chair.”
