JAMMU, July 11: An electrician received severe electric shock this afternoon and died on the spot while working at Lalyal area falling under the jurisdiction of police post Chatha.
According to a police official, the deceased has been identified as Raman Kumar Sharma (32) son of Devi Dass, resident of Lower Chowadi (Jallochak). He said Raman was an electrician by profession and had gone Lalyal along with two of his accomplices to fit electric motor in a water pump in a farm.
“While fitting the motor, Raman allegedly came in contact with live wire, received severe electric shock and died on the spot,” the official said, adding, his accomplices shifted his body to Government Medical College, Jammu, where after postmortem, the body was handed over to his family members for last rites.
He said Chatha police had taken cognizance of the matter.
