KATHUA, June 15: The members of J&K Central Non- Gazetted Electrical Employees Union (JKCNGEEU) today held a protest demonstration outside the office of Superintendenting Engineer (DPC convener) Circle office here today.
The members of the Union assembled under the leadership of District president, Arun Kumar along with Kapil Sharma, Anil Khajuria, Inder pal, Vikas Sharma, Pankaj Pattyar, Asha Ram,Kuldeep Kumar, Mohd Rafi, Raj Kumar and other and launched their protest.
The protesting employees and workers were demanding immediate withdrawal of anti-employee orders and intentions by the Union Government, as the move is totally anti-people as well.
District president Kathua said ” The J&K Government has first unbundled the JK Power Development Department into various Corporations and now the entire privatization of PDD would be both anti-employee and anti-consumer move. The next step would be rise in tariffs and duty on electricity by private companies, who are none less than capitalistic exploiters, who are concerned about their profit only. The consumer services will be badly affected due to handover of state establishments to corporate companies,” he added.
Arun further said that more than 470 permanent daily wagers and 450 need based workers of district Kathua from both the Divisions of M&RE and STD have been engaged in Power Development Department, who have been awaiting regularization and are unpaid for several months. These daily wagers are working tirelessly in every calamity or situation, including in the current global pandemic COVID-19 situation.

They said that 1087 daily wagers of Kathua and Jammu districts are pending for regularization under the provision of SRO 381 for the more than 15- 25 years. This is the disparity with Kathua and Jammu districts particularly.
