UDHAMPUR, Nov 1: MLA Ramnagar, RS Pathania, today advised the people to elect honest and upright candidates in the upcoming Panchayat elections in the State.
He was addressing a largely attended public meeting at community hall of Dhamma in Majalta area. Addressing the public, Pathania also lambasted the proponents of autonomy and self-rule who while in power neither moved an inch towards strengthening the grassroot democratic institutions i.e, Panchayats nor decentralized any power to the panchayats.
Pathania while welcoming the decision of Government for reducing the security deposit to Rs 100 for contestants of panchayat election and announcing the honorarium for Sarpanches and Panches, said that these decisions of the Government will go a long way in completing and strengthening 3-tier system of democracy in the State.
The Institution of Panchayats has been empowered in the State with power to collect revenue and large amount of funds are being made available to every panchayat for development. He said that PM Narendra Modi led Government is fully committed to the empowerment of common masses and many public welfare schemes are being launched for common man.
Purnima Sharma, Incharge BJP, district Udhampur, who was accompanying the MLA, asked the public to come in large number to exercise their right to vote. Sharma said that PM led Central Government is fully committed towards “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas” and many welfare programmes have been launched for the common masses.
