JAMMU, July 21: The Jammu and Kashmir Employees Joint Action Committee (J&K EJAC) has appointed three prominent Trade Union leaders as District presidents in the Jammu Division.
Well-known teacher and Trade Union leader, Syed Nusrat Hussain, has been entrusted with the responsibility of District President EJAC Poonch. Dr Sanjay Sharma will serve as the District president for Kathua, and Rifat Hussain Malik has been appointed as the District president for Kishtwar.
President J&K EJAC, Wajahat Hussain Durrani, along with general secretary Sajad Parray, Provincial president M. Ameen Khan, vice presidents, and unit heads, extended their congratulations to the newly appointed leaders. They expressed their hope that these leaders will utilize their best abilities to represent the employee community effectively.
Mir Bashir, the spokesperson of EJAC, emphasized the significance of J&K EJAC as the only established platform with democratically elected leadership, a legacy left by great leaders. He highlighted that EJAC represents the home for all 4.5 lakh employees in the region.
Reflecting on recent achievements, Mir Bashir noted that under the leadership of President Wajahat Hussain, several key employee issues have been resolved, while important and long-pending issues are continuously being followed. These include the regularization of daily wagers, Assured Career Progression/Time Bound promotions across various departments, a job policy for several sections of the working class, and the resolution of genuine issues affecting employees in the Education, Transport, Tourism, PSUs, and other departments.
“President Wajahat Hussain Durrani and his team is steadfastly following up on employee issues. On the matter of daily wagers, the team is actively engaged with the government and remains committed to the implementation of the Minimum Wage Act, following the pattern adopted by the UT of Ladakh and other States and Union Territories. We are determined to see this demand resolved and will continue our fight through all constitutional options,” Mir added.
While welcoming the announcement of LG Manoj Sinha regarding the resolution of the GP Fund disbursement issue, Mir Bashir said that due to the continuous and concerted efforts of the team of leaders led by President Durrani, the issue has now been resolved”.
The spokesperson added that the Jammu and Kashmir Employees Joint Action Committee (J&K EJAC) is a prominent organization dedicated to representing and advocating for the rights and welfare of employees across Jammu and Kashmir.
