Edu Institutions celebrate Independence Day with patriotic fervour

JAMMU, Aug 16: The 75th Independence Day was celebrated with great zeal and patriotic fervor by various educational institutions across Jammu and Kashmir by organizing a variety of events including flag hoisting ceremony.
The Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and patriotic zeal at Central University of Jammu, Rahya Suchani, in Samba district. The function was held at main campus, where Vice Chancellor of the Varsity, Prof Ashok Kumar Aima hoisted the National Flag, inspected the Parade and took salute from the contingent of the Varsity’s guards. In his address, the VC evoked the sacrifices of the freedom fighters who laid down their lives during the freedom struggle.
The 75th Independence Day was celebrated with zeal and vigor in the premises of Cluster University of Jammu. Prof Bechan Lal, Vice Chancellor, Cluster University of Jammu hoisted the National Flag in the university campus which was followed by Guard of honor by the NCC cadets and playing of the National Anthem. The celebrations commenced with a calendar of social and cultural events in the constituent colleges and university schools showcasing the pride of Sanatan Bharat.
Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University celebrated Independence Day with patriotic fervor and gaiety. The flag hoisting ceremony was held in the lawn of Vice-Chancellor’s Secretariat. Prof Akbar Masood, Vice Chancellor BGSBU received the guard of honor and hoisted the National flag. Speaking on the occasion, Prof Akbar urged the fellow citizens to make the nation strong and vibrant.
Independence Day was celebrated with the flag hoisting ceremony followed up by singing the National Anthem at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra. Prof RK Sinha, Vice-Chancellor, unfurled the national flag and addressed a large gathering comprising research students, faculty and staff members and their kids, and security personnel.
The Day was celebrated at University of Jammu with patriotic fervour and zeal. Prof Manoj K Dhar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu hoisted the National Flag at the Fountain Plaza. On the occasion, mass singing of the National Anthem was organized and the Guard of Honour was presented to the Vice-Chancellor by the University Security Contingent. The wards of university employees also presented cultural items.
Vice-Chancellor University of Kashmir Prof Talat Ahmad unfurled the National Flag in the campus on the occasion of the Country’s 75th Independence Day. Members from the teaching and non-teaching community of the University, apart from top officers, attended the flag hoisting ceremony. The university police contingent also presented a guard of honour on the occasion while the National Anthem was being sung.
Managements and staff of Jammu Institute of Ayurveda and Research, Trikuta Degree College, Trikuta College of Education, Jammu College of Physiotherapy, Trikuta College of Physical Education and Sain Charitable Institute of Paramedical Sciences under the banner of Shri Sain Charitable Trust for Higher Education and Research, Nardni-Raipur celebrated 75th Independence Day. National Flag was unfurled by Suman Sharma, Trust Chairperson.
Sai Shyam College of Education, Ghou Manhasan, Jammu celebrated Independence Day wherein the National Flag was hoisted by C L Tickoo, College Chairman.
Bhaskar Degree College Udhampur and Bhartiya College of Education Udhampur celebrated India’s the Day very enthusiastically in all its solemnity and grandeur. All the staff members of both the colleges and students were present to salute the mother land and Tri-colour of the nation. The Flag was unfurled by the Managing Director of the College Ashok Khajuria.
Indian Institute of Management Jammu celebrated the Day in a hybrid mode with a blend of online and offline, including students, faculty members and staff. Prof B S Sahay, Director IIM Jammu commenced the event with the unfurling of the National Flag and addressed the gathering. The program was marked by cultural programs by the students of both junior and senior batches.
The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar celebrated Independence Day with enthusiasm. Prof (Dr) Rakesh Sehgal unfurled the Tricolor at the Institute campus and it was followed by a grand parade. On the occasion, patriotic songs were presented by the children of the faculty members.
Independence Day was celebrated in Sacred Heart College of Education, Paloura with a flag hoisting ceremony. Rajini Bala, chairperson of the College along with Hari Singh Chib MD of the College, unfurled the National Flag after which National Anthem was sung by all.
Dogra Group of Colleges viz. Dogra College of Education, Dogra Law College & Dogra Degree College celebrated the Day in Bari Brahmana campus with great pomp and show. The celebration for the Day began with the parade presented by NCC cadets of Dogra Degree College and Dogra Law College. Thakur Gulchain Singh Charak, former Minister and chairperson, Dogra Educational Trust hoisted the National Flag.
Government College of Engineering and Technology, saluted the Nation and its freedom fighters on Independence Day. The staff and students of GCET marked the occasion by hoisting National Flag followed by playing the National Anthem with great joy, enthusiasm and upholding the patriotic fervor. The Tricolour was hoisted by Principal Dr Sameru Sharma.
The faculty, students and NSS volunteers of Government College of Education Jammu celebrated the Day with great fervor and gaiety. The program began with unfurling of the Tricolor by Principal Dr Kulvinder Kour. The flag hoisting ceremony was followed by patriotic songs program in which each one of the faculty member of the college sang patriotic songs.
Government College for Women Bhagwati Nagar organized week-long activities to commemorate 75 years of India’s Independence, under the guidance of Principal of the College Prof Minnie Sharma. The programme finally culminated on 15th of August with the flag hoisting ceremony in the upcoming college campus at Bhagwati Nagar, where the students of the College sang the National Anthem and also took the pledge.
On the occasion of Independence Day, Principal GMC Rajouri Dr Brij Mohan hoisted the National Flag in the premises of Government Medical College (GMC) Rajouri. While addressing the faculty and students present there, Dr Brij Mohan spoke about the highly appreciated services rendered by the Corona warriors during the second wave. He also mentioned about augmentation of infrastructure in various sectors of the Hospital and medical college.
The 75th Independence Day was celebrated with patriotic fervor in the premises of Government Degree College (GDC) Kakryal/Katra. The event commenced with hoisting of National Flag by the College Principal Dr CK Khajuria. It was followed by recitation of the National Anthem by the students, staff and other dignitaries from civil society.
GDC Dudu Basantharh celebrated the Day with enthusiasm in its premises. Principal of the College Dr Bhavnaish Chand hoisted the Tri-color. The flag hoisting ceremony was followed by National Anthem and slogans of Bharat Mata Ki Jai.
To celebrate the occasion, G D C Ghagwal organized flag hoisting ceremony in the College premises. The National Flag was hoisted by Prof Suresh Kumar Sharma, Principal of the College. After the flag hoisting, the National Anthem was sung. The celebration ended with the pledge taking ceremony in Hindi, English and Dogri languages.
The Independence Day celebrations began in GDC Purmandal with the unfurling of National Flag by Prof Seema Mir, Principal of the College in the presence of Sarpanch of the area (Sapna Spolia), Naib Sarpanch and others. Students of the College displayed their talent by singing patriotic song, reciting patriotic poem.
To mark the occasion, GDC Basohli organized an online slogan writing competition on the theme “Patriotism” under the patronage of Principal Dr Nidhi Kotwal. The motivational lecture on role of citizens in independent India was also delivered by Prof Brham Dutt, convener of the function. Eighteen students participated in the competition.
GDC Billawar celebrated Independence Day with great zeal under the patronship of Principal Prof Anita Jamwal. At the outset, she hoisted the National flag, followed by National Anthem by NSS volunteers. The guard of honour was presented by NCC cadets.
To celebrate the occasion, various cultural programs were organized in the premises of GDC Bishnah. The program included Flag Hoisting, singing of patriotic songs and a short skit presented by students. The program was started with unfurling the Tricolour by Principal Dr Anuradha Pandoh.
In GDC Sunderbani, Additional Deputy Commissioner Sunderbani Vinod Kumar Behnal unfurled the National Flag along with the Principal of the College. On the occasion, Principal of the College highlighted the sacrifices of the freedom fighters. Some staff members and students also spoke on the occasion.
GDC Bhaderwah celebrated the Day with enthusiasm and patriotic fervor. The festivity commenced with a brief introduction of the occasion by Lt Prithvi Raj ANO NCC Unit GDC Bhaderwah. It was followed by the hoisting of National Flag by chief guest Dr Kuldeep Kumar Sharma, Principal GDC Bhaderwah.
In GDC Marheen, the celebration began with hoisting of Tricolour by Prof (Dr) Romilla Malla Bhat, Principal of the College and it was followed by fervent singing of the National Anthem. Beautiful recitations of the valour exhibited by the freedom fighters and video presentation on the topic “What ethos has contributed to Bharat retaining its Cultural Background Hymn?” were conducted.
GDC Sidhra celebrated the Day with great enthusiasm. The Program started with the flag hoisting ceremony by the College Principal Dr Monika Sharma and singing of the National Anthem by the staff and students of the College. Dr Nalini Pathania Associate Professor (Department of English) also encouraged the students by reciting an inspirational poem.
To commemorate the occasion, GDC Dharmari organized a series of events including flag hoisting ceremony by Principal Dr K K Sharma, patriotic song competition, poster making competition and essay writing competition. Students from all the semesters enthusiastically participated in the events.
GDC Ramgarh celebrated the Independence Day by organizing flag hoisting ceremony. The National Flag was unfurled by Dr Meeru Abrol, Principal of the College. National Anthem was sung enthusiastically by the staff and students. A cultural bonanza was also presented by the students.
In GDC Marh, the celebrations began with hoisting of Tricolour by Principal of the College Prof Aekta Gupta, which was followed by pledge taking ceremony and recital of National Anthem by guests, staff and NSS volunteers of the College.
Staff and students of GDC Thannamandi celebrated Independence Day with full zeal and enthusiasm. The flag hoisting was done by Prof (Dr) Javaid Ahmed Qazi and it was followed by National Anthem sung by NSS volunteers. The cultural programme was presented by the NSS volunteers and NCC cadets.
To commemorate 75 years of Independence, 37 SD and SW NCC cadets of GDC Udhampur (Boys) under the patron ship of Principal Prof Subhash Chander Sharma participated in a mega event at the statue of Capt Tushar Mahajan, Shaurya Chakara, 9 PARA SF, located at Udhampur. An elaborate wreath laying ceremony was held on the occasion.
In Government ITI Udhampur, Chairman IMC of the ITI, Arun P Gupta hoisted the National Flag and took salute. Superintendent ITI Udhampur Naresh Singh along with staff members and students also participated in the celebration. The program concluded with distribution of prizes/certificates among all participants.
Government Polytechnic College Reasi organized week-long activities to celebrate Independence Day under the supervision of Ankush Langer, Incharge of the Activities. The celebrations concluded with the hoisting of National Flag by Principal of the Institution, Er Vivek Mahajan.

Institute of Music and Fine Arts (IMFA), University of Jammu, organized a flag hoisting ceremony to celebrate 75th Independence Day. The ceremony began with the hoisting of National Flag by the chief guest – Corporator Neelam Kumari on the roof top of the Institute’s building in Poonch House, Talab Tillo, Jammu. Jang S Verman, an eminent artist, was the special guest present on the occasion.
Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Reasi under the administrative control of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Jammu (SKUAST-J) celebrated 75th Independence Day with great fervor. The programme was organized under the guidance and supervision of Director Extension of SKUAST-J, Prof S K Gupta. The programme was inaugurated by Bodh Raj, Naib Tehsildhar of Dera Baba who also hoisted the Tri-colour.
Delhi Public School (DPS), Jammu celebrated the Day with great enthusiasm. The function began with hoisting of the National Flag by the chief guest, Priya Sethi, former Minister. Meenu Gupta Headmistress, DPS Jammu, highlighted sacrifices of our freedom fighters. President RCT, Ajatshatru Singh, PVC Ritu Singh, Director S S Sodhi and Principal, DPS Jammu, Ruchi Chabra conveyed their best wishes to students and staff.
In DPS Udhampur, the celebration began with Tricolour hosting which was done by PVC Dr J C Gupta, MD Vivek Gupta along with other member of DPS family in the School premises. Virtual assembly was conducted by the students of the class 8th. Colourful programmes were organized by the students virtually.
Jammu and Kashmir Police Public School branches at Jammu, Srinagar, Baramulla, Kupwara and Rajouri celebrated Independence Day with great fervour, gaiety and devotion offline and online. The Principals of these schools hoisted the National Flags at their respective schools. Thereafter, students presented various cultural programmes and sang patriotic songs.
Independence Day was celebrated with patriotic fervor in the premises of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Bantalab, Jammu. Bhanu Pratap Singh, Deputy Inspector General, Group Centre CRPF Bantalab, was the chief guest on the occasion. He along with other dignitaries unfurled the National Flag. The celebration was followed by cultural bonanza presented by the students.
In Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 2, Dhar Road, Udhampur, the National Flag was unfurled by the School Principal Nitin Dev. Thereafter, PRT Paramjeet Kaur gave a motivational speech and few patriotic songs were presented by music teacher, Monika.
The Shri Ram Universal School, Jammu celebrated the Day on a virtual platform with patriotic fervor and enthusiasm. The function started with brilliant word wizardry from the talented compeers highlighting the importance of this auspicious Day. A colourful bonanza of dance and song was presented by the students. Chairman of the School Sanjeev Gupta, Director Rajni Gupta and Principal Rajesh Rathore also participated in celebrations.
Jammu Sanskriti School, Jammu celebrated the Day with exuberance through online streaming. The celebration began with lighting of lamp followed by flag hoisting ceremony in the School premises. Students presented a medley of patriotic songs. Rohini Aima – Principal cum vice chairperson spoke on the occasion.
Independence Day was celebrated at New Era Environmental High School with fervor and gaiety. The programme began with flag hoisting followed by singing of National Anthem and patriotic songs. Several items including skits on the life of freedom fighters were presented. The Tricolour was unfurled by Prabha Jain, Principal of the School.
Government Girls Higher Secondary School (GGHSS) Bazar Qasaban, Jammu, celebrated the Day with great enthusiasm. The event was marked by flag hoisting which was done by Principal Satinder Kour. Cultural items depicting sacrifices given by our freedom fighters were presented by the students. The programme ended with National Anthem.
In GGHS (Camp), Shastri Nagar (Jammu), the celebration started with unfurling of National Flag by Principal Daizy Rani Koul and singing of National Anthem by one and all. Speaking on the occasion, she urged the students and staff members to work wholeheartedly towards nation building.
75th Independence Day was celebrated with great pomp and show at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS), Paloura in Jammu. Chief guest, Rajni Bala, Councillor of JMC Ward Number 60, along with the School Principal Sunita Chadha, hoisted the National Flag. Students sang National Anthem and presented cultural items.
In Government Mixed Higher Secondary School, Purkhoo (Camp), Jammu, the national Flag was unfurled by Principal of the Institution R K Hakim. Later, students presented a variety of cultural items including patriotic songs.
To commemorate the occasion, students of GHSS Mansar (Udhampur) presented patriotic cultural items. Earlier, the Tricolour was hoisted by the School Principal Charu Anand in the presence of staff and few students.
The Day was celebrated at GHSS Kud with pomp and show. The National Flag was hoisted by Sarpanch of Kud Kuldeep Sharma in presence of the School Principal Ajeet Sharma, SHO Kud Ajeet Sharma, and prominent villagers. Students of the School presented some cultural items on the occasion.
Shiksha Niketan Senior Secondary School, Jeevan Nagar (Jammu) celebrated Independence Day wherein Principal of the School, Rameshwar Mengi hoisted the National Flag while the main guest on the occasion was Dinesh Singh Sambyal, Deputy Commandant BSF.
Dewan Badrinath Vidya Mandir Amarvilla School celebrated Independence Day with zeal and enthusiasm. The ceremony started with flag hoisting by the Principal, Ranju Malhotra and Manager Darshan Lal Sharma, followed by a beautiful rendition of the National Anthem and patriotic songs.
On the occasion of Independence Day, IDPS Jammu hoisted Tri-colour in the presence of Deputy SP Shashi Thakur, Management of IDPS and the Principal along with the administrative staff.
The Independence Day was celebrated at Sanmati Vimal Jain Academy, Udhampur and flag hosting was held by Manvi Raina, Principal Jain School.
Rural Model Diamond Public School, Barta/Ritti, Udhampur celebrated the Day in the presence of Principals, D R Bamotra and Kuldip Kumar respectively, who hoisted hoisted the National Flag in their respective School premises.
Standard Institute of Education, Rown Dhar Road, Udhampur celebrated Independence Day in the presence of Principal, Chain Singh, Trustee of the School, prominent citizens of area and students. Principal, Chain Singh hoisted the National Flag.

Sunrise Public School celebrated Independence Day in the school premises with children where Virender Kumar was the chief guest and he spoke on the day and wished all the children a happy Independence Day.
R.M Public School celebrated the Day with fervour and zeal. National Flag was hoisted by guest of honour, Maj S Arun of 12th JAK RIF along with the School Chairman Rameshwar Mengi.
Modern Secular Institute of Education High School Laxmipuram, Chinore celebrated Independence Day with patriotic fervour and enthusiasm. S N Saproo, president J&K Milchar Front and Managing Director of the Institute and K K Rao, unfurled the National Flag.
Sanatan Dharam Higher Secondary Kanya Vidalaya Julaka Mohalla, Jammu celebrated Independence Day with patriotic fervour and enthusiasm. Kuldeep Anand, president; Sat Pal Singh, vice president; M L Vidyarthi, secretary and Murari Lal, treasurer of the School unfurled the National Flag.
Dogra Higher Secondary School, Shastri Nagar celebrated the Day with fervour and enthusiasm and all the students, teachers and members of the management participated virtually to celebrate the national festival. Managing Director of the School, Gambhir Dev Singh Charak unfurled the National Flag.
Alexander Memorial Higher Secondary School, Jammu celebrated Independence Day wherein the entire school was tastefully decorated befitting the occasion. The National Flag was hoisted by the chief guest, Vijay Kumar, Presbyter-in-Charge St Paul’s Church, Jammu.
Sai Shyam Public School, Ghou Manhasan celebrated Indepndence Day wherein chairman of the School C L Tickoo hoisted the National Flag.

The Day was celebrated at HSS Marh Zone-Dansal with great enthusiasm. Anjana Rani Principal and Girdhari Lal Panchayat Member jointly hoisted the National Flag.
On 75th Independence Day, flag hoisting ceremony was organized at GGHSS Sarore in which Sarpanch of both Upper and Lower Sarore, Block Secretary Panchayat Sarore and prominent citizens were the guests of honour.

Government High School Kotli Tanda (Akhnoor) celebrated 75th Independence Day with great fervour. The flag hoisting ceremony was performed by Suman Pawar, Sarpanch Panchyat Halqa Gandharwan.
Government Girls High School Rajpura Mangotrian celebrated Independence Day and the National Flag was hoisted by Renu Manhas, Head Master of the School.
Government Middle School (GMS) Bamyal, Zone Dansal celebrated Independence Day with enthusiasm. Ghulam Mustafa, Sarpanch unfurled the Tricolour in presence of In-charge of the School, Sureshta Devi and other staff.
Government Girls Middle School Barnai celebrated the Day with great zeal. Zonal Education Officer, Mohd Haneef Hakla was the chief guest on the occasion and Joginder Singh, Zonal Education Planning Officer was the guest of honour. Haneef Hakla hoisted the National Flag in presence of ZEPO and Kuldeep Singh Bandral, I/C Headmaster and the staff members of the School.
The Independence Day was celebrated with zeal in Government Girls Middle School, Bhalwal. Santosh Kumar Bhagat, Headmaster of the School along with local Sarpanch hoisted the Tricolour in the presence of staff and a few students.
The Day was celebrated with pomp and show at GMS Rajpura, Gaghwal (Samba). Sarpanch of the area, Suresh Sharma was the chief guest on the occasion. He along with Headmistress Manju Sharma unfurled the Tricolour.
