KATHUA, Aug 22: On the instructions of the Deputy Chief Minister, a team of District Administration Kathua today visited the landslide hit village Mohra Chhuara of Panchayat Uchha Pind in Tehsil Ramkot to assess the damages caused to public property and measures being taken for providing relief to affected families.
Immediately after hearing about the unfortunate incident, Mr. Singh had instructed administration to rush to the site and extend every support to the landslide victims.
The team comprising ACD Kathua, XEn REW, BDO Nagrota sought details of the damages and the affected families from the SDM Billawar, Tehsildar Ramkot and other sub-division level officers.
They were told that the families affected by the landslides have been shifted to Government Primary School Pongaran by the joint efforts of District Administration and Police. The relief material has been provided to the affected families in the makeshift relief camp where provision for food, drinking water and toilets have been put in place.
It was informed that vast agriculture land and residential houses were buried under the debris after huge landslide hit village Morha Chhuara of Panchayat Uchha Pind during the intervening night of Aug 20 and Aug 21.
Meanwhile, Tehsil Administration has advised the people not to venture near landslide prone area. The administration has also sought the help of Village Defense Committee members to make people aware about the risk in avalanches prone area.
The team members also visited the relief camp and interacted with the affected families and enquired about their well being.
ACD Kathua said that rescue operation has been completed and no loss of life and livestock has been reported so far. He informed that district administration has identified the land for rehabilitation of landslide affected families.
