Drizzle brings respite from scorching heat in Kashmir

Srinagar, June 11: A brief drizzle across Kashmir parts today brought about relief from the scorching heat that was witnessed for the last few days.
On the day Srinagar recorded a maximum temperature of 34 degrees Celsius, which was again below the temperature recorded yesterday.
While rains brought about relief in Kashmir, the weatherman said that Jammu also received rainfall last night which brought relief from the scorching heat. The maximum temperature in Jammu was recorded at 37.3 degrees Celsius.
Kupwara in Kashmir Division recorded the temperature which was 0.5 Degrees greater than what was recorded in Srinagar.
In Anantnag, the maximum temperature was recorded at 32.2 degree Celsius. In Shopian, Kulgam and Pulwama, the maximum temperature was recorded 28.7, 30.4 and 33.2 degrees Celsius respectively.
In Bandipora maximum temperature was recorded at 32.7 degrees Celsius, while as in Budgam mercury touched 33.9 degree Celsius.
In the Jammu region, Kathua, Kishtwar, Ramban, Poonch, Samba and Udhampur recorded 35.7, 35.2, 36.7, 31.4, 37.0 and 36.4 degrees Celsius respectively today.
The weatherman at MeT’s Srinagar station said that more rains are expected during 4 days across Kashmir Division.
Meanwhile, in the evening, windstorm wreaked havoc in several areas of Kashmir damaging rooftops, while electricity was also snapped in various areas.
In the Baramulla district, the hailstorm damaged standing crops in several areas, while as Srinagar-Baramulla National Highway also remained closed after a tree fell off near the Pattan area.
