Driver, associate arrested for smuggling bovines to Valley

JAMMU, Jan 17: Nagrota police arrested a driver and his associate for smuggling 12 bovine animals to Valley.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Nagrota police station laid a naka near Ban Toll Plaza and signaled a truck bearing registration number JK03E-4431 to stop for checking.
On seeing police team, the driver accelerated the vehicle and tried to escape, but the cops chased and intercepted the vehicle near some distance from the naka point.
During checking, police rescued 12 bovine animals from the vehicle and arrested the driver and his associate.
The accused have been identified as Mohammad Liaqat, son of Mohammad Shafi of Maralian, RS Pura and Parvez Ahmed, son of Abdul Latif of Phansa, district Reasi.
The accused were smuggling the bovine animals to Valley, but active cops of Nagrota police station foiled their bid.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered against the accused at Nagrota police station and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Nagrota police station Inspector Karan Chalotra made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Bharat Bhushan Sharma, SP Rural Rajiv Pandey and SSP Jammu Uttam Chand.
