DPAP Displaced Wing discusses issues of Kashmiri migrants

JAMMU, June 15: The Displaced Wing of DPAP held an emergency meeting here, today to discuss the various issues being faced by displaced people from Valley.
The meeting was convened by Sanjay Dhar, president and chairman P.L.Pandita. It demanded that the orders issued for charging electricity bills from the displaced people living in camps at Jammu be revoked forthwith.
The meeting discussed that during last over 30 years of exile, the Government of India has been bearing all expenses of migrants as it has failed to work out a concrete permanent rehabilitation policy. It resolved that charging of electricity expenses from migrants be withdrawn as soon as possible. These leaders said Government does not seem serious regarding any concrete policy for the resettlement of migrants and it is not keen to restore their rights.
These leaders urged Government of India and UT Government to revoke this order as soon as possible to get some relief to migrants. The other members who were present are Raj Kumar Tickoo, general secretary, Gawhar Wani spokesperson, youth president, Naveen Gosaien and others.
It alleged that during last over three decades no concrete steps have been made for return and rehabilitation of migrants in Valley by successive governments and urged the Government to take a concrete step in this regard to relieve the displaced people of mental agony.
