JAMMU, Sept 24: The Swarnkar Sangh Jammu city has urged the customers to not to fall prey to certain misleading schemes and claimed that the jewellery marked as 1 gram gold jewellery in such schemes is artificial jewellery.
In a press conference here today, Raj Kumar Babbar, president Swarnkar Sangh Jammu province informed that only 9 carat gold jewellery is Government approved and the customers should not get confused for artificial products.
“The national jewellery brands charge 15 percent to 35 per cent wastage and we urge the local traders to avoid defaming each other by offering unrealistic wastage schemes or misleading advertisements,” Babbar maintained adding: “Recently certain traders have been luring customers through misleading schemes offering 2 percent, 3 per cent and 5 percent wastage. We urge the customers not to fall prey to such deceptive offers.”
The Jewellers’ body informed that the standard rate and wastage policy applicable across India will continue to be followed in Jammu as well.
It also announced that making charges on jewellery will range between 10 percent and 18 per cent depending on the design and craftsmanship involved and this uniformity will ensure transparency and fair trade practices across the region.
On this occasion, an 11 member committee was constituted under the chairmanship of Ashutosh Kapoor, all India patron of Swarnkar Sangh to handle the disputes, advertising issues and other matters concerning Swarnkar community.
