DLSA organizes sensitization prog for elderly inmates, jail staff

JAMMU, June 13: District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Jammu today held a sensitization programme for the elderly inmates and jail staff of Central Jail Kot Bhalwal and District Jail Ambphalla.
The event was part of ‘Ageing with Dignity’ Campaign, which was held by DLSA Jammu in collaboration with Police and Prison Departments, District Authority and Health Department under the chairmanship of Vinod Chatterji Koul, Chairman, DLSA Jammu, Principal District and Sessions Judge Jammu and Naushad Ahmed Khan, Secretary, DLSA Jammu.
During the programme, the participants were sensitized about special and specific social needs of elderly inmates and methodology of dealing with them, to increase awareness and knowledge of the key provisions of the Senior Citizen Act and to impart knowledge of age related disorders, mental and physical diseases and disabilities suffered by elderly inmates and required response and treatment thereof.
Chief guest Dr Aabha Chaudhary, Chairperson Anugraha New Delhi was among others who spoke on the occasion and enlightened the elderly inmates and jail staff of Central Jail Kot Bhalwal and District Jail Ambphalla with their expertise.
