JAMMU, Oct 12: Employment Information cum Advisory Bureau, Department of Lifelong Learning, University of Jammu, organized a special lecture on “Career Options in Genetics” in the Institute of Human Genetics, University of Jammu here today.
Dr Arun Arora, Gynaeocologist, Infertility Specialist and Gynae Endoscopic Surgeon Consultant, was the special resource person. Prof Seema Langer, Coordinator of PG Course in Human Genetics, Dr Kavita Suri, Director, Department of Lifelong Learning, Dr Roopali Fotra and Jyotdeep Kour Raina, Faculty of the Institute and Dr Rewa Khajuria, Counsellor, EIAB, Department of Lifelong Learning were present in the inaugural.
Dr Kavita Suri spoke about the objective of the programme and also apprised the students about various other activities of the department. She also explained that counselling is very important for the PG students to know about their future pathways.
Prof Seema Langer, Coordinator of PG Course in Human Genetics, said that there is a dire need of career counselling for the PG students.
Dr Arun Arora, in his presentation, highlighted the Career prospects available for the students who are studying Human Genetics and also apprised them about the genetically transmitted diseases.
About 35 students and alumni of the institute attended the programme.
