Srinagar, Aug 18: A year has passed since a diversion over a stream in Pulwama district of south Kashmir was washed away in floods but is yet to be constructed, locals said.
The locals of Tenghar in Pulwama said that a diversion which was constructed over Saasaa stream was washed away during September 2014 floods but since then the Government never constructed it again. Saasaa stream is one of the tributaries of Romshi stream.
In absence of the diversion, the small and large vehicles cross the stream over its boulders and stones, which could lead to an accident anytime. Besides, the pedestrians also face difficulties while crossing the stream. They said when there is rush of water, the traffic as well as pedestrian movement comes to a halt.
The locals of the Area appealed concerned authorities to construct a diversion or a permanent bridge for their convenience.
