JAMMU, Aug 26: Unhygienic storage of CAPD ration in Jammu store came to fore when Divisional Commissioner Jammu Shantmanu today conducted a surprise visit of the Ware House complex housing godowns of CAPD and JAKFED.
There was no proper storage of the ration, which was kept on ground without any polythene cover while the rain water was trickling from top of the store.
Moreover, some carcasses of animals were also found from the adjoining JAKFED store within the complex.
When contacted, the Divisional Commissioner told the Excelsior that the surprise visit was conducted on some complains of general public regarding unhygienic storage of CAPD ration, which was being supplied to people through public distribution system.
Besides issuing on the spot instructions for proper storage of the ration, I am going to convene a high level meeting of the concerned officers tomorrow in my office chamber to ascertain the reasons for prevailing situation and ensure measures for adequate arrangements in this regard, he added.
