JAMMU, July 18: Director School Education, Jammu today visited the protesting Contractual Plus 2 Lecturers, whose ongoing chain hunger strike entered into 520th day on Wednesday.
The Director, Rakesh Sarangal gave a patient hearing to the Contractual Lecturers and assured to look into their demand of regularization. He also appealed them to lift their dharna and suspend the ongoing chain hunger strike as the Government would sympathetically consider their demand.
However, the Contractual Lecturers made it clear that they would suspend the ongoing hunger strike only after a written assurance on their demand from the concerned authorities.
The Director assured to apprise the higher authorities about genuineness of the demand for further action.
These Contractual Lecturers are demanding their regularization as per Civil Services Provision Act 2010, a Legislation passed for the regularization of all the Contractual/ Adhoc/ Consolidated/employees as one time exception/relaxation.
In support of their demand, they have been observing an indefinite chain hunger strike from the last 520 days at Exhibition Ground, near Press Club Jammu.
