Dip Enggs call on DyCM

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Oct 6: A deputation of All J&K Diploma Engineers Association, comprising of Central body members of  Kashmir and Jammu wing led by president Afaq Chishti called on Dy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh in his office chamber at Civil Secretariat Srinagar in presence of Senior Officers of PWD(R&B) Hydraulic, PDD and Finance Department and projected their demands.
The major demands included adoption of Punjab pattern in promotions, maintenance of  Cadre strength at the level of Assistant Engineer, Assistant Executive Engineer and Executive Engineer, enhancement of  fixed Travelling Allowance etc.
A threadbare discussion was held on the these demands and its implementation. While deliberating Chishti  told that the Diploma Engineers were facing huge stagnation at the level of Junior Engineer and retiring without availing a single promotion in their entire service span which is a grave concern and suggested adoption of Punjab pattern whereby  Diploma Engineer after rendering a ten year of service is being given the designation of Assistant Engineer, also meager quota of 20% allotted in  favour of Diploma Engineer is not being maintained.
It was also pointed out that  a Junior Engineer is getting Rs 30 per month as fixed Travelling Allowance that is  Rupee  1 per day which is a cruel joke. The Dy Chief Minister while showing keen interest instructed the concerned officer present in the meeting to convene a meeting of Commissioner/Secretaries of all the Engineering wings under the Chairmanship of Chief Secretary in the shortest possible time for resolving the demands of Diploma Engineers in a time bound manner.
Prominent among those present in the meeting included president,  Upinder Singh, Chairman Anil Gupta from Jammu.  Khurshid Ahmad Kirmani,  Khurshid Ahmad Ahanger, Shafiq Ahmad Lone and  Anees.
