JAMMU, Apr 1: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said that it is wrong to study for exams. If one studies the entire syllabus thoroughly with full mind, different exams do not matter.
The PM said these words in response to a question from a 10th class student, Erica George, from Army Public School, Udhampur (J&K), during famous PM’s Live programme ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’ today. It was 5th session of this countrywide programme.

Erica in her question asked the Prime Minister what can be done for those people who are knowledgeable but could not able to appear for the right exams for some reasons.
The Prime Minister said, “It is wrong to study for the exams. If one studies the entire syllabus thoroughly with a full mid, different exams don’t matter. One should aim to master the subject rather than for clearing exams,” the PM observed.
Elaborating further, Modi said, athletes are trained for sports and not for competition. ” You people belong to a special generation. Yes, there is more competition but there are more opportunities too,” he added. Modi asked the students to treat competition as the greatest gift of their time.
Erica George, a brilliant and bold student of her school got the proud privilege to interact with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi after the jury for the purpose, selected her amongst the others for this special and rare life time opportunity. She was full of confidence while posing question to the Prime Minster.
Her joy knew no bounds after this programme. All the students of class 10th and 12th along with staff had assembled in the auditorium of the school to witness the interaction. Her father, Sunil George, an English lecturer in the same school and the Principal are the real motivators and the guiding force behind her for this programme.
While talking to the ‘Excelsior’, Erica said she was extremely happy to have this rare life time opportunity to interact with the Prime Minister of the country. ” Though I was a bit nervous initially, but at the same time feeling confident and proud being representing J&K at the national level.”
She said with her interaction today with the PM, she could realize that she was not just dreaming but it was reality that she was facing Prime Minister. Erica said with her interaction today, she personally feels that the other students of this part of the region will also be inspired. She extended gratitude to the APS Principal, Sanjeev Kumar, staff and her educationist parents for motivating her and their kind support.
Her father, Sunil George said it was an honour not for only APS but for the entire Udhampur City. George said the selection process was on the basis of ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’ contest in which the students had to participate. The best entries were short listed for interaction today. ” I had told Erica you decide the subject and write genuinely from the core of your heart. Then we forgot. But last Sunday we received information that Erica has been short listed and selected for the interaction. It was a great and proud moment for us and the School,” George said.
