JAMMU, Jan 4: Criticizing the Union Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for demonetization of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes, Congress today termed it one of the biggest scam in the history of India.
Addressing a meeting of District Congress Committee Jammu Rural at Paloura, Manmohan Singh Katoch, Observer IC J&K and Subash Manglete, Co-Coordinator of J&K, MoS Himachal Pradesh, said that with the demonetization decision of Prime Minister, farmers, labourers, small traders and shopkeepers were worst hit.
They demanded compensation for the labourers, poor farmers and small traders and next kith and kin, who lost their lives due to demonetization. They demanded that the restriction on withdrawal of money be lifted with immediate effect. The leaders alleged that demonetization has failed miserably and destabilized the economy of the country.
Prominent who addressed the workers were senior Congress leader Hari Singh Chib, Thakur Suram Singh, Jatinder Singh, Hoshiar Singh Chib, Sandeep Manhas and many others.
