JAMMU, July 16: Harsh Dev Singh, Chairman-JKNPP and former minister today said that Delimitation Commission has exposed lies and deceptive politics of BJP.
“With Delimitation Commission flatly refusing the de-freezing of 8 seats out of 24 seats reserved for PoJK despite repeated drum beating by motor mouthed saffron leaders, the deceptive politics of BJP has once again come to fore,” he said while addressing a press conference in Jammu today.
Singh reminded that the assurances of de-reserving 8 Assembly seats out of 24 kept vacant for PoJK and providing the same to migrants of the said territory residing in Jammu and elsewhere were made at the time of Assembly and Parliament elections and the said promises were even incorporated in the “Vision Document” of BJP released during 2014 elections.
“After winning the elections the BJP however failed to initiate any action to bring about necessary amendments on the subject in the law so as to de-freeze the said seats. No proposal was ever mooted by BJP either in Assembly or in Parliament at the time of passage of ‘J&K Re-organization Act’ to de-freeze the said seats. So much so that even during the APM meet chaired by PM, the BJP leaders failed to highlight the issue and to seek amendment in the relevant law,” regretted Mr Singh.
Pointing out that Delimitation Commission had no mandate to alter the number of seats as fixed by the Parliament or to de-freeze the same, Harsh Dev Singh said that by projecting this issue before the Commission, the BJP leaders only rendered themselves as objects of contemptuous humorous disparagement.
“Such leaders and parties who have been thriving on falsehood, deception and subterfuge should be prepared now to face the ire of the masses who had catapulted them to power,” maintained the NPP Chairman.
He also cautioned the people of Jammu region to remain vigilant and not to fall a prey to the deceptive politics of power hungry politicians who had neither the merit nor capacity to espouse the cause of Jammu region.
Gagan Pratap Singh (State Secretary-JKNPP) and Surinder Chouhan (District President Jammu Rural of JKNPP) were also present in the press conference.
