UDHAMPUR, Aug 8: District Development Commissioner, Udhampur Dr. Piyush Singla who is also project Director under Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana (PMAGY) today convened a meeting of officers of District Convergence Committee and reviewed the progress for effective implementation of Centrally Sponsored Scheme Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana (PMAGY) in the District at Conference Hall DC Office Complex Udhampur.
At the onset, District Social Welfare Officer, Udhampur Sajad Bashir Somberia gave a detailed power point presentation about the progress of Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana in the district. The DSWO informed that PMAGY is a scheme for empowerment and social economic upliftment of Scheduled Castes. He further informed that 31 villages of 12 blocks of Udhampur District where SC population is maximum have been selected under PMAGY.
He said that need based assessment in consultation with Village Convergence Committee headed by Sarpanch of the concerned village have been done and 424 works under designated sectors identified for execution in these villages. Under this scheme Rs 20 lakhs are earmarked for each village for development and gap filling in six identified sectors.
The DDC said that PMAGY is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme for gap filling in infrastructure and a step towards betterment and empowerment of SCs. He asked the concerned officers to take keen interest for effective implementation of this scheme in letter and spirit in their respective areas so that the general public can avail the benefits of this scheme.
The DDC directed the officers of RDD, Social Welfare, Jal shakti Department, Health, PWD and other departments to prioritize the works with high outcome and fills the infrastructural gaps and and play a vital role in socio economic upliftment of the village and submit detail within one week.
He stressed on early execution of works for sustainable development on the ground. Technical departments were asked to submit the estimates of identified works within week’s time.
Among others, ADDC Ashok Kumar,PO ICDS Attar Chand,CPO Rajeev Bhushan,SE R&B Shakti Sagar, ACD Mushtaq Choudhary,PO IWMP Sapna Kotwal, CMO Dr K C Dogra, CEO Parshotam Dutt,Xen REW Bashir Sheikh,LDM , all BDOs, officers and technical staff of line departments were present in the meeting.
