DDC inspects ongoing work on Kiru HE project

KISHTWAR, May 31: With the aim to revive the economic activities and to expedite the development works in the district amid the COVID-19 pandemic, District Development Commissioner Kishtwar Rajinder Singh Tara today visited 624 MW run-of-the-river, Kiru Hydro electric Power Project site at Kiru village in Nagseni Tehsil and took stock of ongoing development works.
He was accompanied by Assistant Commissioner Revenue Kishtwar, Dr Amir Hussain, Tehsildar Nagseni, Nayeem Iqbal Shiekh, Chief General Manager CVPP Pakal Dul, P B Jain, General Manager CVPP Keru HEP Varinder Salman among the others.
During the inspection, he reviewed the progress of proposed works that the CVPP is undertaking at the site including setting of residential colony for workers working there, roads construction and other allied works which are to be started after the permission for the resumption of developmental work in the district has been granted after a long gap of lockdown due to COVID-19 pandemic.
Reiterating the fact that this project will provide employment to large number of unemployed youths, he asked the project authorities to expedite the work and complete in time bound manner. He further urged them to transform it from the take off stage to full swing stage on priority.
Later, he also interacted with a deputation of Nagseni led by BDC chairman and highlighted the problems being faced by the people of the affected area which mainly includes the pendency of land compensation, absorption of the deserving local youths in project among others.
The DDC assured them that all their grievances will be redressed in a time bound manner once the lockdown comes to an end. He also asked the people to follow the COVID-19 SOPs in letter and spirit and avoid unnecessary roaming out of homes.
Meanwhile, he also inspected the places where the anti encroachment drive was conducted by ACR Kishtwar and Tehsildar Nagseni last week to clear the illegal structures constructed in the acquired land for Keru HEP Keru alongside the Kishtwar Paddar road.
He further directed Tehsildar Nagseni to clear all the pending encroachments.
