DCC felicitates newly appointed office bearers

* Holds protest against FIR on Rahul Gandhi

POONCH, Sept 1: District Congress Committee (DCC) Poonch today organised an executive committee meeting here today to felicitate the newly appointed office bearers of the District Congress Committee and Block Congress Committees across the district.

DCC president Shahnawaz Choudhary felicitated the newly appointed office bearers, including Block presidents and working presidents, and congratulated them on their new responsibilities.

Addressing the gathering, Shahnawaz said that the newly constituted team has a greater responsibility to strengthen the Congress organisation at the grassroot level. He emphasised the need to ensure an active Congress presence at every booth of the district so that workers remain connected with the people and effectively take forward the message and vision of Rahul Gandhi and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge.

He said that the strength of the Congress lies in its workers and called upon the newly appointed office bearers to work with dedication, discipline and commitment for strengthening the organisation and raising the issues of the people.

During the meeting, it was decided that monthly meetings would be held to review organisational progress at the block and booth levels. Responsibilities were also assigned to the newly appointed office bearers to ensure better coordination, accountability and effective implementation of upcoming organisational programmes.

The meeting was attended by senior Congress leaders, members of the District Executive Committee, Block presidents, working presidents and other newly appointed office bearers from across Poonch district.

Following the meeting, the DCC Poonch held a protest at District headquarter, against the registration of an FIR against Rahul Gandhi. The protesters also demanded registration of an FIR against those who allegedly carried out a so called purification ritual in Haldwani, Uttarakhand, following an address by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge at a rally there.

He demanded that the law should be applied equally and that appropriate action be taken against those responsible for acts targeting or insulting Congress leaders and constitutional values.
