REASI, June 19: Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Indu Kanwal Chib today visited at Organic Training Centre, Talwara and interacted with the crops growers.
While visiting the organic farmers’ fields, she said that organic farming is need of the hour and encouraged farmers for commercial organic farming so that they can generate more income.
She said that District administration is with the farmers and discussed the marketing management issues of farmers. She added that eco-friendly agricultural practices should be adopted by the farmers to protect the soil health and environment which further will help to keep us healthy and safe.
Dr. Banarsi Lal, Scientist & Head of KVK, Reasi briefed the activities of KVK, Reasi specifically on organic farming. He said that KVK is technically supporting the farmers to produce the organic crops of commercial level and constantly encouraging them for organic farming by which they can produce the safe food and generate extra income. He highlighted vermicomposting, neem oil, Panchgavaya, biofungicides etc. use in organic farming. Hans Raj and Subash Chander, progressive organic crops grower shared their experiences for organic farming with the Deputy Commissioner.
They said that they have been doing organic farming from the last many years and the KVK scientists suggested them new techniques in commercial organic farming which helped them to increase their crops production and income.
It is worthwhile to mention here that DC Reasi has facilitated the farmers to sale their farm produce even during lockdown period with the close co-ordination of KVK, Reasi. She encouraged the KVK scientists to work with full enthuse for the farmers’ community and appreciated their specific endevours on organic farming.
