REASI, Sept 27: Two-day Division Level Inter-District Volleyball Tournament for Girls Under-14, 17 and Under-19 years was inaugurated by Prasanna Ramaswamy G., Deputy Commissioner Reasi as the chief guest at General Zorawar Singh Sports Stadium, here today.
While addressing the participants, the chief guest said that through the medium of games and sports the individuals do come to learn the ability to overpower physical fatigue through mental toughness that is acquired through rigorous practice and participation.
TR Katoch, Commandant IRP 1st Battalion and Principal STC Talwara, Reasi was the guest of honour, while Er Suket Gupta,Principal, Govt Polytec-hnic College Reasi and Bishan Singh Jaral, Chief Education Officer Reasi were the special guests on this Divisional Level Sports event.
The Colourful Cultural programmes were presented by the students of Gurukul Public School and Montessorie Public School Reasi.
Earlier, Dr Swaran Singh Chib, District Youth Services & Sports Officer Reasi and Organizing Secretary of the tournament welcomed the guests and briefed about the tournament in which female Volleyball players drawn from different districts of Jammu Division are participating.
This Divisional Level Event is being organized as per the Annual Activity Calendar issued by the Directorate of Youth Services and Sports, J&K.
In Under-19 girls, Samba defeated Kathua 2-0 by 25-09, 25-06 and Udhampur beat Reasi 2-0 by 25-15, 25-10, while in Under-17 girls, Kathua lost to Jammu 0-2 by 25-27, 17-25 and Reasi got the better of Udhampur by 2-1. The set Scores were 28-26, 23-25, 25-22.
