KATHUA, Aug 18: Deputy Commissioner, Dr. Raghav Langer today convened a meeting to review the functioning of Child Protection Services in the district.
Among others, Senior Superintendent of Police, Shridhar Patil, Chief Prosecuting Officer, Vikrant Sharma, Chief Education Officer, Prem Nath, District Child Protection Officer, Abdul Rahim, along with District Child Protection Unit Staff, Chairperson, Child Welfare Committee besides DEPO, Aruna Sharma, Members, Juvenile Justice Board, Station House Officer, Kathua, Special Juvenile Police Officer, Coordinator Child-line Kathua and other concerned officers attended the meeting.
The Deputy Commissioner was briefed about the overall functioning of Child-line in the district. He directed the concerned officers to display Child-line helpline number (1098) in district offices complex and other government offices.
Chief Education Officer was also directed to ensure the admissions of all children recommended by Child-line/Child Welfare Committee in the nearby schools. Some cases related to children housed in Children Homes were also discussed with Chief Prosecuting Officer.
Coordinator Child-line, Pardeep Singh apprised the DC about the challenges being faced by them in discharging their duties.
The DC further directed the District Child Protection Officer to identify suitable building for establishing Shelter Home. Directions were also passed to initiate a Juvenile Justice Fund (Child Welfare Fund) at district level, which will be utilized for rehabilitation, welfare of children in challenging circumstances.
