REASI, Jan 15: Deputy Commissioner Indu Kanwal Chib today formally inaugurated the office of Tehsildar Thakrakote at Lower Panassa here today.
The office was finally established under leadership of DC Reasi and consistent efforts of the Panchayats, BDC Chairman Rajinder Singh and Tehsildar Thakrakote Mohammad Rafique. The setting up of the office had been delayed due to warring factions within the blocks.
The inauguration was held in presence of elected members of Panchayati Raj Institutions, BDC Chairman, Tehsildar Thakrakote, a number of officers and people from all over the Tehsil. Site selection for the office was embroiled in various disputes which were finally resolved with combined efforts of the DC and PRI members who were in talks for past few months.
Upon inauguration, the DC said that administration has inched a step closer to the people for effective and immediate resolution of their official work and issues. She also directed relevant officers to shift their offices from district headquarters immediately and start working among the people.
The DC also directed the Tehsildar to chalk out days and a time table for meeting with the people every week. She directed him to call an immediate meeting with the local officers to better understand their issues.
All the officers and PRI members later held a meeting with the locals and listened to their issues and demands. For early resolution of road connectivity, the DC called an immediate meeting of District Forest Officer and other officials concerned with construction of road. To address education woes of the people, the DC directed the Chief Education Officer to meet with Zonal Education Officers and work for immediate benefit of students.
To the locals’ demand of setting up a bank in the remote tehsil, the DC asked all Sarpanchs to forward a written resolution to her office at the earliest.
Later, she inaugurated construction of road from Kunda to Baldhana. Those present at the event also included Chief Education Officer, Mushtaq Ahmad, BDO Thakrakote, Baldev Singh, Ex En PMGSY and other officials from various departments.
