KATHUA, Jan 11: Deputy Commissioner Kathua Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary chaired a meeting with Local Cable Operators to discuss the roadmap for the operationlizing Digital Addressable System across the district.
During the meeting, Dr Shahid Iqbal briefed the cable operators about the directions of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and J&K Government regarding the transformation of existing cable service from analogue cable to Digital Addressable System( DAS) for which the revised deadline is fixed as December 31, 2015. He called upon the cable operators to make a detail plan of switching over to digital mode in their respective areas in time bound manner.
Interactive discussion was held in the meeting where Local Cable Operators were informed to furnish the detail about the number of consumers/ subscribers of their respective area of operation to the committees constituted at Municipal Committees/Council/Tehsil and District level. Deputy Commissioner said the progress of digitization will be monitored weekly for which Cable Operators should submit their progress to the concerned committees.
Deputy Commissioner assured that the administration will give them all necessary help for smooth digitization of cable service.
Among others Sr. Superintendent of Post Offices, Jammu Rattan Lal, Postmaster Kathua, Tehsildar Kathua, Tehsildar Hiranagar, Naib Tehsildar Baggan, Naib Tehsildar Parnala, District Information Officer, DIO NIC Kathua officers of municipal committees and council and cable operator from across the district were also present on the occasion.
