SRINAGAR, Aug 1:In a significant decision, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla today directed Treasuries not to release salary of the absent employees, who skipped their duties last month.
“It has been observed that most of the employees of various departments in the district have not attended to their duties for the past 20 days or are not punctual to their duties. In this context, you are directed not to release the salary of the employees of Departments except that of essential services’ departments,” directed the Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Nisar Ahmad Naqash in a letter addressed to District Treasury Officer vide no DMB/PS/3410-15.
Those departments which have been exempted from the order include Roads and Buildings, Public Health Engineering, Power Development Department, Health, Treasury, Revenue and Police.
“The rest of the departments shall submit an attendance certificate from their controlling officers of the district and head of the departments, vetted by the Deputy Commissioner before their salary is released. Similar instructions be given to all the subordinate treasuries in district,” the DC said.
The direction has come at a time when separatists who issue protest calendars have been asking employees (except those from essential services’ departments) not to attend their offices in the Valley. The appeal has been largely followed and so far the attendance in the Government offices has been negligent.
On the other hand, curfew in parts of Valley has also led to closure of Government offices.
