DB grants time for filing counter affidavit in PIL on illegal immigrants

JAMMU, Aug 21: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Advocate Hunar Gupta seeking direction to the State for deportation of illegal immigrants from Myanmar and Bangladesh settled in Jammu and Samba districts, Division Bench of State High Court comprising Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice B S Walia today granted six weeks time to the respondents for filing counter affidavit.
Advocate Deewakar Sharma appeared for the PIL whereas ASGI Sindu Sharma for the Union of  India, Deputy AG Raman Sharma for the State and Advocates Shah Faisal and Fazal Abdali for the intervenor.
In the PIL prayer has been made for issuance of directions for shifting all the illegal immigrants of Myanmar and Bangladesh from State to any other place as no refugee camp has ever been declared either by State or by United Nation in J&K.
The prayer has also been made for withdrawal of all benefits given to the illegal immigrants of Bangladesh and Myanmar from the State exchequer and from the scheme and benefits meant for the residents of J&K.
