JAMMU, Aug 18: In a petition regarding dearth of staff at various levels in the High Court and District Courts, Division Bench comprising Justice Tashi Rabstan and Justice Sindhu Sharma has directed the Law Secretary to appear before the court positively on next date of hearing.
When the matter was taken up for consideration, DB observed, “none appeared on behalf of respondents nor Secretary to the Government, Department of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs is present in person in terms of order dated 14.07.2022. So much so, the respondents have also failed to produce the order regarding sanction of posts in terms of order dated 14.07.2022”.
The DB further observed that since the Law Secretary has failed to appear in person despite passing of order dated 14.07.2022 and has taken the order of this court very lightly nor Amit Gupta, AAG is present in the court, as such before taking any coercive measure, Law Secretary is directed to appear before this court positively on the next date of hearing.
The DB directed registry to send a copy of this order to Amit Gupta, AAG, and to the Law Secretary for strict compliance.
