SRINAGAR, July 22: Member, Central Waqf Council, and Chairperson, Waqf Development Committee, Union Ministry of Minority Affairs, Dr. Darakhshan Andrabi called on Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha at Raj Bhavan here today.
Dr. Andrabi apprised the Lt Governor of the steps taken by Central Waqf Council for digitization of the Waqf properties and records throughout the country and requested for implementation of e-system of Waqf Management in Jammu & Kashmir.
She thanked the Lt Governor for the developmental projects initiated by the government in J&K and also shared her views on the broader peace initiatives undertaken by the UT government.
The Lt Governor acknowledged her keen insight on the overall development of J&K and assured to consider her suggestions in the interest of the people of J&K. He also advised Dr. Andrabi to continue her efforts for the welfare of the people.
Meanwhile, a delegation of JKPCC led by its President, GA Mir, met the Lt Governor and apprised him of various developmental and public importance issues.
The delegation demanded probe by Supreme Court judge into the unconstitutional hacking of cell phone of Rahul Gandhi, his staff and other constitution functionaries in the country.
Congress delegation also had a detailed discussion with the LG on various issues of public importance and other developmental issues concerning J&K, also submitted memorandum with regard to various pressing demands and concerns of people of J&K and sought their resolution.
Congress expressed disappointment over the rising unemployment in Jammu Kashmir and demanded that Govt must address the unemployment menace. The Party feels deeply concerned about the unprecedented price hike in petrol, diesel and other essential and understand that Govt seems very insensitive towards this burning issue. The price hike has put the people especially poor and below poverty line to huge economic crisis, but the irony is that Centre Govt was least bothered about the huge burden on the people, the memoradum reads.
Congress Party also sought regularization of daily wagers, casual labourers, needs basis and others working in different departments for a long.
Former Member Parliament, Mir Mohammad Fayaz also called on the Lt Governor and projected various developmental issues of Kupwara district.
The Lt Governor gave a patient hearing to the issues projected by the visiting delegations and assured them to address the same on merit.
