LUCKNOW : The Uttar Pradesh Government has decided to give tax free status to Aamir Khan’s upcoming film ‘Dangal’, which is based on the life of Haryanvi wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat. The decision for giving tax-free status to the film was taken in a cabinet meeting yesterday. Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav had taken special interest in giving the sop to the film, which will be released on December 23. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the biographical sports drama film tell the story of Phogat, who taught wrestling to his daughters Geeta Phogat and Babita Kumari. ‘Dangal’, is one of the rare films which has got that status even before release. It is likely to be tax free in some other states like Delhi, Haryana too. (AGENCIES)
