RAJOURI, June 11: Demanding a concrete policy for their regularization, a large number of daily rated workers of different departments held a strong protest demonstration outside the Deputy Commissioner’s office, here today.
The Casual Labourers and Need Based Workers of PWD, PHE PDD, Tourism, Local Bodies, Irrigation & Flood Control, PWD Mechanical Engineer Department, Higher Education, Forest, Health Department, etc, protested under the banner of PWD (R&B) Casual Labourers / Need Based Workers Union Rajouri.
The agitating workers assembled in Children Park Rajouri and raised slogans in support of their demand of formulation of a concrete policy for regularization of their services, creation of a special head for the purpose of paying regular wages and release of pending wages in the departments.
Representatives of different organization, namely Vijay Kochhar, Shahbaz Khan, Bashir Mirza, Prince Anmol, Shieraz Ahmed , Roomi Verma, Ashok Bali, Mukesh Shehzal, Mohd Ishaq and others had extended their support to the protesting workers.
While addressing the protest rally, the Union president Mohammed Riaz Mughal condemned the delaying tactics of the State Government regarding the genuine issues of casual Laborers/ Need based/ITI trained workers as per the agreement. He also reminded about the policy framed for regularization of their services by the previous Government on October 9, 2014 but could not be implemented due to elections.
Later, the protesting employees called on the Deputy Commissioner and submitted him the charter of demands. The DC assured that he would take up their demands before the higher authorities.
