Cyber Police arrests fraudster

JAMMU, Mar 25: Cyber Police Jammu today arrested a fraudster involved in commission of frauds involving Rs 2,34,800.
According to SP Cyber Naresh Singh, on January 22, 2021, a complaint was received at Cyber Police Station Jammu from a senior citizen lady namely Sneh Lata wherein she alleged that one unknown fraudster impersonating himself from Insurance Company convinced her that an insurance claim is due against her deceased husband who was a retired Government Officer. The complainant being senior citizen got trapped and consequently lost her hard earned money to the tune of Rs 2,34,800 to the fraudster on one pretext or the other, SP added.
“Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 22/2021 under Section 66-D of IT Act r/w 420 and 120-B IPC was registered at Cyber Police Station Jammu for in-depth investigation and its logical conclusion”, SP Naresh Singh said.
He added that during the course of investigation, a fraudster namely Sukhdeep Singh alias Sonu, son of Iqbal Singh of Guru Nanak Nagar Patiala Punjab was zeroed in and arrested successfully by team of Cyber Police Station Jammu today.
Further investigation is going on to ascertain the involvement of accused in other cases as well as to unearth involvement of other accused in this case, SP Cyber Naresh Singh asserted.
