Cricket tourney begins at MA Stadium

JAMMU, Aug 28: A cricket tournament was inaugurated at MA Stadium, Jammu, in memory of Late Pt Sita Ram, with several political and social personalities paying tributes to the veteran social worker.

The opening ceremony was attended by MP Jugal Kishore Sharma, MLA Jammu East Yudhvir Sethi, Congress General Secretary Taranjeet Singh Tony, BJP spokesperson Adv Ankur Sharma, BJYM President Arun Parbhat Singh, political activist Partap Singh Jamwal, Keshav Chopra and tournament organizer Dixit Sharma.

The guests remembered Pt Sita Ram for his contribution to society and social service. They said he had been associated with public service since the 1980s and was also associated with the Jan Sangh and among the early members of the BJP in Jammu and Kashmir.

Following the inaugural ceremony, matches got underway. In the first match, Telli Cricket Club scored 136 runs before being bowled out by Apex Cricket Club. Despite losing four early wickets, Apex remained in the chase with Majid (Ladda) scoring 32 runs. Sumit Kumar impressed with the ball, claiming four wickets, and was named Player of the Match.

In the second match, Singh Warriors posted 200 for nine against Iron Titans. Iron Titans were dismissed for 53 runs in reply. Daman, who scored an impressive 90, was declared man of the match.
