JAMMU, Jan 25: The construction work of 100 bedded new Emergency Block at GMC Jammu was kick started by Dr Sunanda Raina, Principal and Dean of the Institution.
Dr Sunanda was accompanied by Dr Dara Singh, Medical Superintendent (MS) of the Hospital along with Dr Anil Mahajan, Head, Department of Medicine. The project was approved under PMDP package and the work has been given to Jammu and Kashmir Police Housing Corporation.
While speaking on the occasion, Dr Sunanda Raina expressed her immense satisfaction for the start of construction work of 100 Bedded new Emergency Block. She said that against 150 sanctioned MBBS seats, the required bed strength is 650; however, this institution is having nearly 2300 beds. She said there is almost five times more work load and existing emergencies is over burdened because of huge work load pouring in from various region of Jammu and Kashmir.
“Construction of this new 100 bedded Emergency Block worth Rs 1150.50 lakh shall largely help the institution to meet extra work load on the emergency,” she said, adding that the new block shall be designed as per IHPS guidelines and parameters which are of international standard.
She said that the design and the requirement of the said emergency block has been finalized and recommended by the concerned Head of the Departments and construction of the same shall also meet MCI norms.
