Cong should clear its stand on one nation one tax: BJP

JAMMU, July 4: While strongly criticizing the role of opposition parties including National Conference (NC) and Congress over GST who created a high drama in the State Assembly today, BJP said the NC’s position over the issue is understood as it has always played a partisan politics in the State right from 1947 but the role of Congress which is playing the second fiddle to NC is totally shocking.
In a hard hitting statement here, today, the BJP general secretary, Dr Narinder Singh took Congress to task for opposing GST and said that people of the country should haul up the Party over the issue and ask it to clear its position whether it stands for one nation one tax or not.
Dr Singh, while lambasting the Congress accused it of playing dual policies and said its role over the GST has been an encouragement and morale boosting to separatists also who too had joined chorus to oppose the GST. While justifying the GST, Dr Singh said that it will relieve the people of the country as well as that of the State of redundant tax laws and make the tax system good and simple as announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during launch of GST in the midnight of June 30 and July 1.
He said the Congress has been exposed before the people of the country for its policies as just opposing the good decisions and polices of Modi Government for the sake of opposition indicates that party is in great desperation after losing power at the Centre as well as in various states. He warned the Congress party and its leadership that opposing the people friendly policies of Modi Government will boomerang and party will have to pay a heavy price for it.
Dr Narendra Singh said that by opposing GST in side the Legislature and outside it the Congress has been exposed before the public whose leaders are day in and day out coming out with the statements against the coalition to tarnish its image.
He said with which face the Jammu based Congress and NC leaders will go to public and oppose BJP when they have not supported the GST which people of entire Jammu region including the common masses of Kashmir and Ladakh are supporting.
