MIRAN SAHIB (R S PURA), Nov 3: Urging people of R S Pura to lead the on-going movement for change in Jammu and Kashmir, patron of People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Mufti Mohammad Sayeed today said that it was his desire to establish a system where every section of the society would get justice and equal opportunities for development and socio-economic growth.
“PDP has launched a movement for change in J&K and I urge people of R S Pura to lead this movement from front”, Mufti said while addressing an impressive function in support of party candidate for R S Pura, Bhushan Dogra at Miran Sahib.
“Residents of R S Pura are known for visionary thinking and positive approach”, Mufti said and recalled 1985 Assembly bye-elections when people of RS Pura had elected him as their MLA. “I have lot of love and affection for the people of this border belt”, he said and assured that R S Pura would be developed as show window for the whole Jammu and Kashmir.
Asking people to compare three years tenure of PDP Government with the last six years’ performance of the present NC-Congress regime, Mufti regretted that during the last six years system of governance has been totally collapsed due to misdeeds of those who are at the helm of the affairs.
Mufti reminded that during its tenure the PDP led regime had proved its capability of changing life of the common masses by treating all individual equally and providing equal opportunities to all sections of the society.
“Although we had just 16 members in the Assembly, we had provided good governance to the people by streamlining functioning of all the wings of the Government”, he said and added that it was only during the PDP led regime that governance consciousness was generated in the people of Jammu and Kashmir and the common masses had a taste of good governance.
He added that PDP led regime had brought transparency and accountability in the governance by strengthening democratic institutions in the State. He especially mentioned that during PDP led regime more than 80,000 youth were appointed as teachers under Rebar-e-Talim (ReT) scheme and more than 30,000 Anganwari workers were also appointed.
“Not only a single case of favouritism or nepotism were reported during our tenure because appointments were made with complete transparency and accountability to ensure that only deserving people would get jobs”, he said and dared his opponents to come with single example of favouritism or backdoor appointment during PDP led regime. He, however, regretted that the present regime has been brazenly indulged into backdoor appointments in Government jobs.
“The present regime has miserable failed to do justice with the people as it has not fulfil any of the promises made with the people during 2008 elections”, he observed, adding “corruption has crossed all limits during the last six years because there is no transparency and accountability in the governance”.
Ridiculing decision of the Government to approve a package for refugees, Mufti said that Congress has ruled the country for ten years but nothing has been done for the refugees. Similarly, he said, new administrative units were created at the fag end of the present regime just to hoodwink the innocent people.
“Unlike other parties we never compromised with our agenda”, he said and added that agenda of his party was to restore dignity and honour of the people and to provide justice to all sections of the society.
Mufti added that during PDP led regime all regions were treated equally but special attention was paid towards border areas. He said that comprehensive developmental policies were formulated for such areas.
Highlighting achievements of the previous PDP led regime, he said that previous Government led regime had carved out a path of peace and equitable development in the State of Jammu and Kashmir and had laid strong foundation of development in the State.
Speaking on the occasion, Vikrmaditya Singh regretted that successive State Governments have ignored Jammu region in every sphere of live. He said that it was only during three year tenure of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed that equal treatment was given to all regions and sub-regions of the State. “Before formation of PDP led regime in 2002, there were complaints of discrimination and step motherly treatments with some regions”, he recalled, adding “PDP led regime had not only removed these discrimination but also empowered Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh regions equally”.
