AKHNOOR, Mar 9: BJP State vice president Dr Darakhshan Andrabi has alleged that Congress was misleading the people on the issue of Army firing Range in Akhnoor area.
The senior BJP leader, today paid visit to the areas of Akhnoor, Khour and Chowki Chowra and met many people who have been raising their voices against the notification of the district administration for declaring these areas as the firing range for Army. Dr Andrabi also visited the Divisional Administration and verified the official documents regarding the issue.
Later, talking to the people at Akhnoor, Khour and Chowki Chowra, Dr Andrabi said that it was a non-issue at all which was raised by the local Congress leaders who want to mislead people and create panic among masses. She said that there was no change in the firing range and the present order of the District administration was only the renewal of the earlier SRO which had expired.
“The same SRO No 251 was operational since 1979, which was earlier renewed in 2004 during Congress rule in the State. In order to fulfill the administrative requisite the district administration has only extended the earlier SRO and there was no need for the people to panic about the shift in the firing range as was wrongly propagated by the frustrated lot of politicians from Congress at the local level,” Dr Andrabi said.
She slammed the local Congress leader for misleading people and creating panic in the area. She said 40 year old Kaleeth firing range will only be operational and there was no truth in the Congress leader’s propaganda.
