Cong leaders hold video conference over COVID-19

JAMMU, May 6: The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) president GA Mir and former minister & JKPCC general secretary Yogesh Sawhney attended an online video conference with Manish Tiwari (M P, Punjab) Member COVID-19 Panel AICC and former Union Minister and senior Congress leaders to discuss the mechanism of management of the pandemic in different regions of the country.
Discussion was held with senior and former members of Congress, Youth Congress and NSUI in connection with the ongoing efforts and problems faced by local level and various states and Union Territories in the fight against Corona infection. Video conferencing also included leaders from the states of western Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and the Union Territories apart from Punjab.
Leaders from different regions expressed their concerns and views regarding the aforementioned issue. MP from Anandpur Sahib, Manish Tewari explained that the Punjab Government is doing everything possible in the fight against Corona, for which Health Department teams are constantly working with the help of administration and police. Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress president Ghulam Ahmad Mir spoke about the efforts being made by the party organization to help the needy in the UT. He praised Congress president Sonia Gandhi’s announcement to provide train tickets to migrant laborers. Mir said that the JKPCC will provide train tickets to the labourers, although the decision to run the train is to be taken by the Centre.
Mir pointed out that a control room has been set up in J&K by the Congress, where anyone in need can contact and help is provided immediately as soon as the information is received. This control room is supervised by Yogesh Sawhney himself. Mir commended Sawhney in the video conference on handling the control room well. Sawhney expressed his concerns regarding the condition of the poor during the lockdown and stated that the party is trying its best to provide aid and support to them. He said party is also extending support in the form of home delivery of free ration to the needy people.
