JAMMU, June 27: Congress has lambasted Modi Government for unprecedented hike in petrol and diesel prices.
“BJP Government at the Centre is crushing the common man under unprecedented hike if all items. Government has earned around Rs 18 lakh crore from petrol, diesel, etc alone during six years by imposing unreasonable excise duty and taxes, which is most unfortunate,” said chief spokesperson of Congress Party, Ravinder Sharma while addressing a party function at PCC headquarter in Jammu.
Sharma lashed out at the Modi Government for continuously burdening the common people with multiple taxes amidst large scale economic distress, saying that it is totally insensitive to the plight of poor and common man. “The prices of crude oil in the international market are the lowest at present but the prices of petrol and diesel are at its peak, as such Cong has chalked out agitational program from Monday onwards,” he revealed.
He said that Congress would hold series of protest from June 29 onwards upto July 4, at all district headquarters in Jammu and Kashmir over unprecedented price hike of petrol diesel and all other commodities during the Modi regime, which has broken the backbone of poor and common man.
General secretary PCC Incharge District Congress Jammu Yogesh Sawhney and vice chairman of party’s Minority wing Gurdarshan Singh were also present in the function, which was organized by the PCC Minority department district Jammu under the president ship of Jagjit Singh.
On the occasion, several people from other parties joined Congress. Former Minister and Incharge district president Jammu Urban Yogesh Sawhney termed the entry of several young people into the party a sign of the disillusionment of the common people especially youth with the ruling BJP and said that Congress would represent the voice of Jammu youth in all spheres and protect their interests and respect their emotions.
