UDHAMPUR, Mar 19: District Administration, Udhampur, provided computer lab for tribal youth at Gujjar and Bakerwal Hostel at Jakheni for 100 students of various classes.
The computer lab has been equipped with 6 computers, uninterrupted power supply, computer accessories, furniture and also teaching material.
The computer lab was designed and formulated through Rural Development Department and will be a permanent e-learning centre at G&B Hostel for which software and logistics support will be provided by District Informatics Center. Six months and one year courses in computers, data entry and web based skills have been offered to the tribal youth especially the students residing in hostel to equip them with better IT skills along with regular courses of education.
District Development Commissioner, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, Addl DC Angrez Singh Rana, ACD Joginder Singh Rai, ExEn PHE Rajesh Gupta, ExEn PDD Chamel Singh and Warden G&B Hostel Mushtaq Ahmed commissioned the computer lab and opened it for various courses in IT for the current calendar year.
The DDC impressed upon the tribal youth to avail benefits of the computer lab and gain IT Knowledge as well as professional skills for better employ-ability. He also briefed the tribal students about various skill development courses planned for the year for which certificates will be provided by authorized institutions.
A detailed development has also been formulated for strengthening of infrastructure in the G&B Hostel by providing library, sports facilities, better lodging facilities and up-gradation of accommodation. Students residing in the hostel also presented some demands which were committed by the administration for development of hostel.
DIO NIC Anil Sharma has designed special courses for the tribal students apart from certificate courses to enable them for starting their own enterprises under various Government schemes.
