Commerce College enters finals; PG Law & Science in semis

JAMMU, Feb 4: SPMR Commerce College defeated Government Degree College (GDC) Akhnoor by 9 wickets to seal berth in the finals, while Jammu University’s PG Law and Science got better of  GDC Bhaderwah by 7 wickets to enter semifinals of the ongoing Inter-Collegiate Cricket Tournament, being organized by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu, here.
Earlier, SPMR Commerce College thrashed GDC Akhnoor in an easy contest by 9 wickets. Batting first, GDC Akhnoor scored 95 runs in 20 overs. Vijay Kumar top scored with 31 runs, while Neeraj contributed 18 runs to the total. For Commerce College, Aditya and Mohit Gupta bagged 3 wickets each.
In reply, Commerce College chased the target easily by losing one wicket, thus won the match by 9 wickets. Avesh Sharma and Suryansh Raina scored 37 and 30 runs respectively, while Surya contributed 19 runs to the total.
In another match, PG Law and Science defeated GDC Bhaderwah by 7 wickets in a low scoring game. Batting first, GDC Bhaderwah collapsed at 65 runs. Nirmal and Burhan were the only two batsmen who crossed double figure mark, scoring 17 and 14 runs respectively. For PG Law and Science, Khalid took 5 important wickets, while Jyoti claimed 2.
In reply, PG Law scored the runs in 11 overs by losing 3 wickets to win the match by 7 wickets. Soumay Jain and Vikram Singh contributed 21 and 20 runs respectively. Burhan took 2 wikets for GDC Bhaderwah, while Majeed claimed one.
The matches were officiated by Saleem-Ur-Rehman, Vijay Dogra, Raj Kumar Bakshi, Raman Kumar, Suresh Singh and Manu Khajuria.
