SRINAGAR, Oct 25: The civil Secretariat – seat of Jammu and Kashmir government – and other offices closed here today and will reopen in the winter capital Jammu next month as part of bi-annual ‘darbar’ move.
The civil secretariat and other move offices closed here after working hours and will reopen in Jammu on November 4, officials said.
Darbar move is an age-old practice introduced by Maharaja’s under which the government functions six months each in the twin capitals of Srinagar and Jammu during summer and winter months, respectively.
The government has made adequate arrangements to ensure smooth shifting of records and move employees from the summer capital to winter capital Jammu.
As many as 150 trucks and 50 mini buses have been deployed for ferrying official record and employees respectively on October 26 and 27 and on November 2 and 3, the spokesman said.
During these four move days, army and other paramilitary convoys will halt their movement (on Srinagar-Jammu national highway) to facilitate smooth movement of darbar move vehicles, he said.
Arrangements have also been made for providing escort security to the employees and convoy carrying the official record from Srinagar to Jammu, the spokesman said. (Agencies)
